Born in the Past. Built for the Present

We didn’t set out to build just another camera. We built a time machine — disguised as a camcorder. RetroVizion™ was born from a deep love for that grainy, golden, imperfect beauty of 90s home videos — the kind your family filmed on bulky VHS cams, long before everything became overproduced and over-polished.

In a world obsessed with 4K clarity and algorithm-friendly perfection, we chose to go the other way. We wanted warmth. Character. Realness. A camera that captures the vibe — not just the pixels.

So we reimagined the vintage camcorder for a new generation of creators, storytellers, and nostalgia lovers.

The result? A palm-sized digital cam with VHS aesthetics, lo-fi audio, NightVision, and USB-C convenience — made to go from your pocket to your story in seconds.

For years, Guillermo — a Tokyo-based filmmaker, photographer, and die-hard fan of analog storytelling — dreamed of bringing back the gritty, emotional charm of 90s home videos.

He scoured eBay, flea markets, secondhand tech shops — anything to find a working vintage camcorder that could deliver those washed-out colors, soft focus, and VHS-style warmth. But reality hit hard.

“What if I built my own retro camera — with modern tech inside, but vintage soul on the outside?”

First Production Run

Began in Tokyo, we spent months buying and testing vintage VHS, Hi8, and MiniDV camcorders from eBay and local sellers. Most arrive broken, missing parts, or unusable due to obsolete batteries and tape issues. “we just wanted something that worked… and looked like a memory.”

The First Prototype

Fed up with failures, we began working with independent hardware engineers and suppliers in Asia to build a modern camcorder with retro aesthetics.
